Because of Mr. Terupt by Rob Buyea

Genre: Realistic Fiction

Book Review:
Because of Mr. Terupt by Rob Buyea is a beautifully crafted novel that really captures the complexities of middle school life. The multiple perspectives of the students allow for a rich, layered story that gives each character a unique voice and journey. What I appreciated most was how the book highlighted not just the importance of a great teacher, but also the personal struggles and growth of each student. It’s a reminder of how one person, whether a teacher, friend, or mentor, can profoundly impact others.

Lesson Idea:
Students can write a letter to a teacher or mentor who has made a difference in their life, explaining how they’ve been impacted by their guidance.
